‘Made in Cornwall’s’ Christmas Fair
As you know this year N.Joy.Millinery joined the Made in Cornwall scheme. This scheme helps promote local businesses. One of Made in Cornwall’s highlights of the year is their annual Christmas fair which takes place at the end of November. N.Joy has been visiting the Made in Cornwall Christmas fair since she was a little girl and was delighted to be amongst this year’s traders.
As the cold wind blows through Truro’s cobbled streets and the November rain pours down, a large marquee is erected on Truro’s piazza which, for five days only, houses a selection of Cornwall’s finest talent. Stall holders selling everything from wall art, pottery and woodwork to jewellery, knitwear and chocolate set up their stands decked out in tinsel and fairy lights. Then the eager Christmas shoppers crowd in to snap up Christmas gifts made and sourced in the beautiful county of Cornwall. And enjoy a Cornish pasty or a cheeky swig of Cornish gin as they peruse.
N.Joy.Millinery stood at stand 36 and displayed some of her finest work. Hats of all shapes and sizes from cloche’s to beret’s drew in onlookers. Interested in not only her work but N.Joy herself wanting to know her story and how a milliner came to live and work in Cornwall. One of the onlookers was a reporter from BBC Radio Cornwall who interviewed N.Joy.Millinery.
N.Joy met some wonderful people and sold some stunning headwear pieces for mother of the brides to local dancers. The best sellers were N.Joy’s recent collection of cloches that haven’t even hit the N.Joy.Millinery website yet . N.Joy millinery will definitely be making some more of those soon so watch this space.
The show was a huge success and N.Joy.Millinery is sure to be amongst traders next year.
Below are some of the pieces that sold at the show and are no longer available.
